Who has a UTMC system?

UTMC-compliant indicative air quality monitorsThe Department for Transport's UTMC initiative comprised a series of projects examining individual areas of UTMC work culminating in four large-scale demonstrator projects in Preston, Reading, Straford-upon-Avon and the City of York. All of the demonstrator projects have become much more than simple showcases - they are functioning systems delivering benefits to traffic and city centre management.

Since the end of the demonstrator phase, a number of other authorities have implemented UTMC in various ways; Sheffield City Council has procured a common database and has added parking guidance equipment (including counters and variable message signs) from several suppliers, all of which connect to the common database.

UTMC-compliant reference air quality monitor Lancashire County Council has expanded its demonstrator project across a number of other districts beyond Preston, Greater Manchester has commenced the deployment of a modular UTMC solution which will ultimately extend across all nine Manchester districts starting with Stockport. The BIAS project currently underway in Glasgow is one of the most ambitious deployments of UTMC and, in common with the other projects listed here, includes integration with real-time passenger information systems.

IDT have been involved with some of these projects providing both technical support to purchasers as well as supplying solutions.
